SUMMARY:WWHF Deadwood 2025
DESCRIPTION:Wild West Hackin’ Fest is the cybersecurity conference organized and hosted by Black Hills Information Security\, and Deadwood\, SD is where it all began! \nIt all started with a bet between John Strand and his wife\, Erica Spurrier. \nJohn had been an instructor and course author for the SANS Institute for years at this point\, and Erica bet that if John gave a class on his own\, in South Dakota where they live\, that people would come. \nSo they started asking around among John’s friends and colleagues. Before long\, the idea evolved into something more than just a single class. They would host a small cybersecurity conference in Deadwood\, a small tourist town about 40 miles northwest of Rapid City\, SD. The Wild West Hackin’ Fest was born… \n\nTentative Plan: I will be giving a workshop on how to install\, run\, and customize local large language models (LLMs) on ordinary computer systems. More details as they evolve!

SUMMARY:MORE Security Lessons Learned Using Copilot w/ Bronwen Aker
DESCRIPTION:What happens when your AI assistant starts taking initiative? \nJoin us for a follow-up webcast with Bronwen Aker and Black Hills Information Security (BHIS) as we dig deeper into the security implications of Microsoft Copilot\, now with agentic capabilities. \nIn this one-hour session\, we’ll explore how these new features allow Copilot to act autonomously on behalf of users\, performing multi-step tasks\, launching apps\, and making decisions based on context. It’s powerful\, and potentially risky. \nRegister Now!\n💥 What could an attacker do if they gained access to an AI agent inside your environment?💡 We’ll walk through real-world examples and security lessons learned\, focusing on permissions\, data access\, and abuse scenarios that are more relevant than ever. \n📅 Live on Zoom and YouTube🧾 Zoom attendees get a participation certificate that may count toward CEUs💬 Join the discussion in the BHIS Discord (#🔴live-chat): https://discord.gg/BHIS \nWhether you joined the first webcast or are just diving in\, this session will help you understand and defend against emerging threats in the age of AI agents. \n\nThe webcast will be live-streamed on Zoom and YouTube.\nZoom attendees with receive a certificate of participation that can be used for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for some certifications. \n\nChat with your fellow attendees in the Black Hills Infosec Discord server:\nhttps://discord.gg/BHIS\nin the #🔴live-chat channel.
